How much does a base clean cost?

We charge based on rooms. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch for a free estimate in advance of a more definitive quote. We also have a free-to-use online estimate calculator. Find a link to that on our Contact page!

What does a base clean involve?

A base clean is all about bringing your space up to a fresh, comfortable standard – the kind of clean I’d want if it were my own home. That includes careful wipe downs, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and detailed kitchen and bathroom cleaning.

How long does a clean take?

That depends on several factors, most obviously the size of your home. On average, a base clean from The Little Mop takes between 1.5 and 2 hours at a standard property. However, initial base cleans and one-off jobs might take between 3 and 6 hours.

How regularly can I get a clean?

Our base clean services are available weekly, bi-weekly, or every four weeks.

We usually carry out our additional services after the base clean is complete, but always work around your needs and schedule.

We also offer one-off services. Please get in touch to discuss availability!

How much do your additional services cost?

All our services outside of base cleans and base clean add-ons are charged at an hourly rate. At present, that’s $50 CAD per hour per person.

Which areas does The Little Mop service?

We currently offer cleaning services in Flamborough, Dundas, Guelph, Brantford, Copetown, Milton, Hamilton, and the surrounding areas.

Do I need to be at the property while you clean?

We’re happy to work around you and clean at the best time for you! We can set up a way for us to access the property when you’re not around, or only visit when you’re at home. Or you could let us in before heading out for a coffee. Whatever works best!

How do you use your house cleaning estimate calculator?

Navigate to our Contact page and click on the link to the calculator. It will open a Google Form with a few simple questions. Once you’ve finished, click Submit. You should receive an automated email within a couple of minutes, containing an estimated price.

Please note that this estimate isn’t a final quote. We’ll give you a finalized price when we do walk around.

What do I need to know about carpet cleaning?

Carpets, rugs and couches are far dirtier than most people realise. The particles bury themselves deep into the fibres, and even the best vacuums don’t remove most of it.

A carpet cleaner looks like a standard chunky vacuum cleaner. It jets water and cleaning product down into the carpet. As you move it back and forth, the brushes and vacuum suck up the water and the dirt bound to it, leaving the fibres much cleaner than they were before.

Here’s what to know before and after a carpet cleaning service:

  • Check your area rugs/carpets/couch cushions are compatible with a carpet cleaner!
  • Prepare somewhere for smaller carpets and rugs to dry (like a clothes horse).
  • For carpets covering your entire floor space, you’ll need dehumidifiers. Get a couple ready in advance.
  • If you can’t get hold of enough drying equipment, consider having only some of your carpets cleaned per visit. This prevents the damp, musty smell from filling your home.

We use the Bissell Pet Pro carpet cleaner for this service.
