There’s something lovely about coming home to clean floors, a kitchen that’s been taken care of, and bathrooms you don’t need to put on this weekend’s to-do list. You can put the kettle on, settle in, and enjoy being home.
That’s the feeling we want to give you at The Little Mop. Our regular house cleaning service combines careful cleaning with familiar, friendly faces and a fixed price. So if you’re thinking about getting some help, here’s what you can expect from us.
How does fixed-price house cleaning work?
We start with a chat about your home and what you’d like us to take care of. You can get in touch straight away or use the free online estimate calculator on our contact page to get a rough idea of the cost.
Then we’ll arrange an in-person walkthrough. This gives us a chance to meet you, see your space, and talk through anything you’d particularly like us to know.
We quote by room and agree a fixed price for your regular cleaning. We call this your base clean rate, with discounts when you book weekly or every two weeks.
For the cleaning we’ve agreed on, you’ll pay the same base rate each time, regardless of how long it takes us. You know what to expect before we arrive, and you can leave us to take care of your home.
What’s included in your regular house cleaning?
Our base clean is what we call a deep surface clean. We work through the agreed rooms, giving the surfaces, floors, kitchen, and bathrooms the attention they need to bring your home up to a clean, comfortable standard. This includes:
- Dusting throughout the rooms
- Wiping down surfaces
- Vacuuming carpets and rugs
- Mopping hard floors
- Thorough kitchen and bathroom cleaning
- Cleaning your stairs
Our aim is to keep those regular cleaning jobs under control, so you can enjoy your home without constantly finding another thing that needs doing.
Why does the first clean take longer?
When we first visit, we’re getting to know your home and working through any dirt or dust that’s built up. There are usually areas that need more time, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms.
And that’s absolutely okay. You don’t need to feel embarrassed or explain how things got that way. Homes are lived in, and we’re here to help.
Some of our initial cleans have involved more than 10 hours of work between our cleaners. But your first base clean still costs the same agreed price, even when it takes us longer.
As we get familiar with your space and keep on top of the cleaning, each visit usually takes less time. After around five or six cleans, the time we need tends to settle into a fairly consistent routine. We’re still working to the same standard and completing the same agreed tasks.
Can you choose which rooms we clean?
Of course! You might want your whole house cleaned regularly, or you might prefer us to focus on the rooms you use most.
Some clients ask us to look after their kitchen, bathrooms, and main living spaces, leaving less-used rooms for occasional visits. If your guest bedrooms only need attention after family has stayed for Christmas, for example, we can arrange to include those when you need them.
We’ll agree what’s included in your regular price during the walkthrough. When you’d like an extra room cleaned, just let us know beforehand so we can arrange the work and confirm the additional cost.
What extras can you add to your regular clean?
Sometimes there’s a job you’d love someone to take off your hands alongside the usual cleaning. Perhaps you’d like your bed made, your washing machine cleaned, or the cat tower vacuumed before it disappears under another layer of fur.
Our base clean add-ons let you include those extra jobs with your appointment. You can arrange them regularly or just when they’re needed.
Add-ons have a separate charge, which we’ll confirm with you in advance. Please give us a little notice so we can allow enough time and bring anything extra we need, such as products for pet areas or equipment for carpet cleaning. We’re always happy to talk through what would make the biggest difference for you.
Who will come to clean your home?
There will usually be one or two cleaners at your home – and one of them will often be me (Shay). I believe in being an owner who works hard and leads by example. Whether it’s me or one of my team members, I always aim to send the same people for each appointment. It’s reassuring to see a familiar face, and it helps us get to know your space and preferences.
Occasionally, illness means someone else needs to cover. Whoever visits, you can expect the same care, attention to detail, and friendly service. I trust my team to clean to the same standards as I do.
We understand that inviting someone into your home involves trust. We respect your belongings, your space, and your privacy, and we take that responsibility seriously. Everyone deserves dependable service and to feel comfortable with the people looking after their home.
Do you need to provide cleaning supplies?
We bring our own equipment and cleaning products, along with indoor shoes to wear while we work. If you’d like us to use a particular product that you keep in your home, we’d be happy to!
For most of our everyday cleaning, we favour eco-friendly products from brands such as ATTITUDE and Method, choosing products that suit the surface and the job. We work with them throughout the day too, so we put thought into what we bring into your home.
If you have particular preferences or someone at home has a sensitivity, please mention it when we chat so we can discuss what works for your space.
